Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Compact three-part abbreviated signature. An angular zigzag 'M' with a trailing loop, a gap, a tall 'P' stem, then a short run ending in a 't'-like crossbar. The 'M' group is roughly equal in width to the 'P' group. | R1–R8 all show the same abbreviated three-part structure: zigzag M, tall P, and a short terminal run with a crossbar. Proportions are similar in R1, R3, R6 and R7. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Slight rightward lean. The baseline is fairly level relative to the signature axis. The signature is signed vertically along the card's left edge, so the crop is rotated. | References show a slight rightward lean on a level to mildly rising baseline (R1, R3, R7). | Match |
| Letter construction | The 'M' is built as sharp alternating peaks with a small closing loop or 'l' stroke. The 'P' is a long vertical stem with a small upper bowl. The terminal shows a looped 'g'-like form and a 't' cross. | Same M peak construction in R1, R2, R3, R6 and R7. The P stem plus small bowl is clear in R1, R3 and R8. The terminal crossbar is present in R1–R8. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | There is a lift between the M group and the P. The P connects into the terminal run. | Identical lift pattern between M and P across references, with P flowing into the ending. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Tapered entry on the first M downstroke. The crossbar ends with a flicked, tapered exit. | R1, R3 and R6 show the same tapered entry and flicked crossbar exit. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Strokes look fluid and confident with some width variation. No visible tremor or hesitation at this resolution. | Fast, fluid lines throughout the references. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Heavier on the M downstrokes and the P stem, lighter on the connectors and crossbar. | Similar heavy downstroke and light upstroke pattern visible in R1, R3 and R7. | Natural variation |
| Spacing | Moderate gap between the M group and the P. | Comparable gap in all references. Slightly tighter in R4 and R5, within normal range. | Natural variation |
| Flourishes and underlines | None beyond the terminal crossbar. | None in any reference. | Match |
| Placement and size | Blue marker, signed vertically in the left margin of the artwork over the green-to-blue gradient. Sized to the sticker. | References are signed over the artwork on Nintendopes stickers in blue or black marker at similar scale. The orientation of the references cannot be determined from their crops. | Natural variation |
| Ink and medium | Blue felt-tip, apparently sitting on top of the printed art, with uneven density along strokes. | Blue felt-tip in R1, R3, R6 and R8. Black in R2, R4, R5 and R7. Marker is consistent with the artist-auto run. | Match |
Examiner notes
Our card is the 2021 Nintendopes Stickers Open Edition artist-auto variant (19b, Blake Belt). R2–R8 come from the same 2021 Nintendopes artist-auto run and should be contemporaneous, signed on the same sticker stock with similar felt-tip markers. R1 (Horrorible Kids Series 9) is a nearby-era Magic Marker Art release on a white or light area. No era-driven variation is expected, and none is seen.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
