Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Abbreviated 'M[l] P[g]t' form: an angular M with a short trailing l-stroke, a gap, a tall P with a looped bowl, then compressed 'gt' and a long horizontal finish. | R1–R7 show the same two-part abbreviated structure with the same M-gap-P-long-tail proportions. R8 is partial but shows the same opening M and l-stroke. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Strong rightward forward slant on the M strokes, with a roughly level baseline running into a flat terminal. | Same forward slant and level baseline in R1, R2, R3, R5 and R7. R4 and R6 run slightly flatter, consistent with signing speed. | Match |
| Letter construction | M made as sharp angular peaks with a rising final stroke. P has an upright stem and a rounded bowl that loops into a descending 'g'. 't' crossbar merges into the tail. | Identical M construction (pointed peaks, rising exit) and P/g loop in R1, R2, R3 and R7. The 't' crossbar merges into the tail in R1, R2 and R6. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | M connects into the l-stroke. A pen lift separates the first-name block from the P. P, g and t run as one connected unit. | Same lift point between the two blocks, and the same connected P-g-t run, across R1–R7. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Starts with an upstroke into the M with no visible blunt start. Ends in a long horizontal tail that appears tapered. | References start the same way and end in a long, tapered horizontal tail (most pronounced in R1, R3, R4 and R7). | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Fluid, quick-looking strokes with smooth curves in the P/g loop. No visible tremor or hesitation at this resolution. | All references show fast, confident execution with similar stroke speed. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Moderately heavier on the M downstrokes and P stem, lighter in the tail. | Similar pressure emphasis on M downstrokes and lighter terminals in R1, R2 and R5. | Natural variation |
| Spacing | Clear gap between the 'Ml' block and the 'Pgt' block. 'gt' is compressed. | Consistent gap and compression throughout R1–R7. | Match |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline. The long trailing horizontal stroke serves as the flourish. | No underlines in the references. The trailing horizontal flourish is present in all complete examples. | Match |
| Placement and size | Signed vertically along the left margin over the artwork, sized to fit the card's left side. | References vary in placement and orientation over the artwork (crops show differing positions and backgrounds). That variation is typical of hand-signing rather than a fixed facsimile position. | Natural variation |
| Ink and surface | Dark blue/black ink on the glossy red sticker surface. No halftone dot pattern is visible in the crop. | Blue and black inks across the references. R2 is black on orange, close to ours. | Not assessable |
Examiner notes
Ours is on a 2021 Nintendopes Stickers Open Edition artist auto, so it is a contemporary artist signing from about 2021. R2–R7 come from the same Nintendopes Open Edition run and are the same era. R1 (Horrorible Kids Series 9) and R8 (Slop Culture Kids) are other Magic Marker Art releases from roughly the same early-2020s period. No era-driven change in the signature is expected or seen across the set.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
