Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Abbreviated two-part signature: an angular 'M' group, a gap, then 'P' followed by compressed letters and a long horizontal finishing stroke. The two halves are roughly equal in width. | R1, R2, R3, R5, R7 and R8 all show the same two-part 'M... P...' abbreviation with a long trailing cross-stroke. R2 is the closest match. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Strong right slant on the first-name strokes. The baseline is roughly level, with the terminal stroke slightly rising. | Right slant and a roughly level or slightly rising baseline throughout. The Funko examples are larger and looser. | Match |
| Letter construction | 'M' is made as a tall diagonal downstroke followed by a zigzag/peak sequence. 'P' has a tall stem with an open bowl and runs into small compressed letters. | Same zigzag 'M' and tall-stem 'P' with open bowl in R2, R3, R5 and R8. R4 and R7 show a slightly more cursive 'Mh' form, within normal range. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | Strokes within 'M' are connected. There is a lift between first and last name. After 'P', strokes connect into the trailing letters. | Same lift pattern between name groups. Connected trailing letters after 'P' in R2, R5 and R8. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | The start of 'M' tapers. The long horizontal terminal extends right and ends in a taper. | Tapered starts and a long horizontal terminal or cross-stroke in R1, R2, R3, R5 and R7. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Fluid and fast, with tapered terminals. No visible tremor, hesitation or blunt stops at this resolution. | Fast, confident strokes in all references. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Ink density varies within strokes; downstrokes are heavier and terminals lighter. Not uniform. | Marker and paint-pen references show similar pressure variation; the paint pen shows streaking. | Natural variation |
| Spacing | Clear gap between the 'M' group and the 'P' group. The letters after 'P' are tightly compressed. | Same spacing habit across references. | Match |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline. The extended terminal cross-stroke serves as the flourish. | No underlines. An extended terminal or t-cross is present. | Match |
| Placement and size | Signed vertically along the left side of the card, in the orange field beside the character, in dark blue/black marker. | R6 is a card signed vertically along the edge in blue ink, a comparable card-placement habit. The Funko references are signed large across the box window. | Natural variation |
| Reproduction indicators | Ink appears to sit on top of the card's printed surface, with density variation. No halftone or dot pattern is visible at this resolution. | Not applicable. | Not assessable |
Examiner notes
Our card is a 2021 Nintendopes Open Edition sticker. The copyright line reads Mark Pingitore / Magic Marker Art LLC, which points to an artist-signed release from about 2021 onward. None of the references are dated. Their subjects (Adam Bomb and Ghastly Ashley Funko Pops, Horrible Kids, Slop Culture Kids, a GPK 8x10) suggest the same early-2020s period, so a major era gap is unlikely. Differences in pen and surface are expected: R3, R4, R5, R7 and R8 are yellow paint pen on Funko boxes, R2 is black marker on glossy yellow, and R1 and R6 are on cards.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
