Card Notes
The Nintendopes Stickers Open Edition emerged during the early 2020s art sticker boom, capturing a moment when contemporary artists turned beloved video game characters into collectible trading cards. Mark Pingitore's series bridged fan art culture and the formal trading card market, bringing hand-signed authenticity to what might otherwise be purely mechanical reproduction. These stickers represented a democratization of artist-driven collectibles during an era of explosive growth in alternative trading card categories. Cut Kitana showcases Pingitore's interpretation of the iconic Mortal Kombat character through a sticker medium, combining video game nostalgia with contemporary art sensibilities. The "10a" designation marks this as a significant entry in the series. Collectors gravitate toward these cards for their intersection of gaming heritage, artistic vision, and the personal connection of the artist's signature—each copy bearing direct evidence of creative intention.
