Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Abbreviated 'Mk' + 'Pt' form. Tall angular M, small k, P with a compact bowl, and a long t-crossbar running right. | The same abbreviated 'Mk Pt' structure appears in all eight references. R7 and R8 have nearly identical proportions on the same card stock. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Strong rightward slant with a slightly rising baseline, signed vertically along the card's left edge. | R1, R7 and R8 show the same vertical orientation and rightward slant. R2-R4 are horizontal on boxes with a similar slant. | Match |
| Letter construction | M built from sharp peaked strokes without rounding. k reduced to a short loop-and-kick. P is a single stem with an open, compact bowl. t has an exaggerated crossbar. | R2-R4 show the same peaked M, abbreviated k and long t-cross. R7 and R8 show the same compressed P and t. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | M connects into k. There is a lift before P, and P-t is partially connected via the crossbar. | The same two-unit grouping (Mk / Pt) appears in R2, R3, R4, R5, R7 and R8. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | The M starts with a quick upstroke without a blunt dot. The t-crossbar ends in a tapered tail. | Tapered entries and exits are seen in R2-R4 and R8. The crossbar terminal is similar in R3 and R4. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Fluid strokes with tapering at the ends. No visible tremor or hesitation at this resolution. | All references show fast, confident execution. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Heavier on downstrokes of the M and P stem, lighter on upstrokes and the crossbar. Ink density varies. | R7 and R8 (similar blue pen) show a comparable heavy-down, light-up pattern. The paint pen in R2-R4 masks pressure. | Natural variation |
| Spacing | Clear gap between the 'Mk' and 'Pt' units, with tight spacing inside each unit. | The gap appears consistently across references. It is slightly wider on the Funko boxes, where the signature is larger. | Natural variation |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline. The extended t-crossbar is the only flourish. | No underlines are visible in any reference. The extended crossbar is present throughout. | Match |
| Placement and size | Vertical along the lower-left of the artwork, partly over the image. Moderate size. | R7 and R8 (same set) and R1 show the same vertical left-side placement and similar size. | Match |
| Reproduction indicators | Ink appears to sit on top of the printed image, with variable density and no obvious dot pattern at this resolution. | N/A | Not assessable |
Examiner notes
Ours is on a 2021 Nintendopes Stickers Open Edition card and was most likely signed around 2021-2022. R7 and R8 are from the same set and share the same vertical left-edge placement and blue ink, so they are probably the same era and possibly the same signing session. R1 (Slop Culture Kids) and R2-R4 (Funko Pop boxes, paint pen) appear to be from a similar recent period. R5 (GPK 2015 Series 1) and R6 (GPK 8x10) are earlier or undated but show the same abbreviated 'Mk Pt' form. This suggests a stable signature over the period covered.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
