# Card Notes The Scarlet & Violet era Basic Energy cards represent a modern evolution in Pokémon's approach to utility cards. Released in 2024, these holofoil versions transformed humble energy cards into collectible pieces worth seeking on their own merit. Rather than treating energies as mere gameplay components, The Pokémon Company elevated them with special treatments and vibrant artwork, reflecting how seriously collectors regard every card in the modern hobby. This Metal Energy showcases the silvery, reflective qualities characteristic of its type, rendered with contemporary printing techniques that catch light beautifully. Collectors pursue these holographic basic energies for complete set collecting, display purposes, and appreciation of the artwork itself—a shift from older traditions where energies were considered afterthoughts rather than centerpieces.
