Fleer Ultra launched in 1991 as a premium football offering, distinguished by its glossy finish and vibrant design work that set it apart from standard base sets of the era. The brand quickly became known for eye-catching photography and creative layouts, capturing the early nineties aesthetic while establishing itself as a legitimate competitor in the expanding football card market. Ultra cards remain popular with collectors seeking that period's distinctive visual appeal. Dan Marino, one of football's all-time greats, appears throughout early Fleer Ultra releases. Collectors value his cards from this set for the combination of Marino's Hall of Fame pedigree and the set's appealing presentation. His presence in Ultra reflects the brand's focus on featuring prominent NFL talent during the early stages of his legendary Miami Dolphins career.
