# Card Notes The 1989 Topps Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set captured the cultural phenomenon at its peak, when the franchise dominated toy aisles, Saturday morning cartoons, and playground conversations. These cards documented the Turtles phenomenon through colorful scenes and character moments, becoming essential artifacts for collectors who grew up during the original wave of TMNT mania. The set remains a nostalgic touchstone for the late eighties, when trading cards were a natural way for kids to engage with their favorite properties. This particular card, "Roused And Riled!," shows the action and attitude that made the Turtles resonate with audiences. The factory error—low ink density—creates a distinctive characteristic that some collectors actively seek as a reminder of Topps' printing variations from this era. It's a tangible piece of both TMNT history and the quirky production realities of late-eighties card manufacturing.
