Hidden Fates emerged in late 2019 as a pivotal modern era set, introducing the Shiny Vault subset that reignited collector enthusiasm during peak Pokémon TCG resurgence. The set's focus on alternate art shinies—featuring vibrant, rainbow-rare treatments of classic Pokémon—established a collecting philosophy that remains influential today. Hidden Fates became synonymous with the modern boom, driving widespread interest and becoming a benchmark release for both nostalgia-driven and newer collectors. Voltorb's shiny form presents the electric sphere with its striking alternate coloration, making it a charming entry in this sought-after subset. While not a headline legendary, Voltorb appeals to collectors building complete Shiny Vault runs, those drawn to electric-types, or anyone captivated by the set's distinctive visual aesthetic. Its accessible yet desirable nature exemplifies why Hidden Fates remains foundational to modern collections.
