Panini's Dragon Ball Z: Awakening marked a significant entry point for the TCG during the mid-2010s resurgence of anime card games. Released in 2016, this starter deck introduced collectors to Panini's take on the Dragon Ball Z license with chrome technology and accessible entry-level products. The set helped sustain interest in DBZ cards during a period before the modern boom, establishing a foundation for the brand's continued presence in the hobby. Hercule, the comedic martial artist and Mr. Satan alter-ego, represents one of Dragon Ball's most beloved characters. His inclusion in the starter deck reflects the set's commitment to representing the full cast beyond just the Saiyans and gods. Collectors appreciate Hercule cards for their character significance and the nostalgic appeal of seeing the franchise's rich roster captured in physical card form.
