Destined Rivals brought fresh energy to the Pokémon TCG in 2025, delivering a set focused on classic matchups and character dynamics that resonated with longtime players. The reverse holo treatment offered collectors an alternative aesthetic that celebrated the artistry of the cards themselves, stepping back from the endless chase of full art variants that had dominated recent years. Team Rocket's Mareep represents a compelling intersection of nostalgia and modern design—pairing the beloved Mareep with the iconic villainous organization that defined the earliest Pokémon era. Collectors are drawn to this card for its unique characterization and the striking reverse holo presentation that elevates the electric sheep's gentle design against a darker thematic backdrop.
