Pokémon Destined Rivals arrived in 2025 as part of the modern era's sustained momentum for the TCG. The set continued the game's focus on competitive mechanics and character-driven narratives, appealing to both longtime collectors and players investing in current formats. This period marked continued stability for the hobby after years of explosive growth, with sets like this one establishing themselves through solid design and meaningful card pools. Steven's Skarmory represents the character-focused subset that collectors prize from this release. Steven, the formidable Steel-type champion, pairs naturally with his signature Pokémon, and the reverse holo treatment brings out the card's artwork in a way that resonates with those building character collections or pursuing complete sets of notable trainers and their teams.
