Pokémon Destined Rivals arrived in 2025 as part of the modern era's ongoing exploration of character-focused set design. The tcg continued its pattern of pairing iconic trainers and their Pokémon, creating thematic product that appeals equally to competitive players and collectors drawn to specific characters or nostalgic connections. Ponyta appears here as a Reverse Holo, a treatment that inverts the traditional sparkle pattern across the card's surface. Fire-type enthusiasts and Kanto collectors are particularly drawn to Ponyta cards for their connection to one of the generation's most beloved creatures, and the shimmering reverse treatment adds visual appeal that makes this version a natural target for set completion.
