Dragon Frontiers arrived in 2006 as part of the EX era's later wave, when the Pokemon TCG was exploring dual-type mechanics and competitive deck-building at an accelerated pace. The set represented a period when trading cards remained central to the hobby's mainstream appeal, before the modern collecting boom reshaped the market. These mid-2000s releases maintain steady collector interest for their artwork quality and nostalgic connection to Pokemon's most consistently popular competitive seasons. Smoochum appears here as a playable Stage 1 evolution candidate, rendered in the detailed illustrative style characteristic of this era. Collectors appreciate Dragon Frontiers for its diverse character roster and solid card design, making even supporting Pokemon like Smoochum worth tracking down for set completion or thematic collections focused on Pokemon's earlier evolutionary lines.
