Upper Deck Marvel Masterpieces brought painted artwork to modern Marvel collecting when many releases leaned heavily on photography and digital design. Released in 2022, this set captured renewed interest in traditional illustration and character-driven aesthetics. Each card featured original artwork celebrating Marvel's extensive roster, appealing to collectors who appreciated fine art presentation alongside their superhero fandom. Shatterstar, the dimensional swordsman and X-Force member, receives dynamic painted treatment on this card. His visually striking design—complete with distinctive costume and weaponry—translates well to traditional artistic mediums. Collectors drawn to lesser-known Marvel characters and those seeking complete X-Force representations regularly pursue this card.
