Upper Deck Marvel Masterpieces represented a landmark moment in modern trading card design, bringing fine art sensibilities to superhero collectibles. Released in 2022, the set captured renewed enthusiasm for Marvel characters through beautifully rendered illustrations that elevated cards beyond standard sports card aesthetics. The series became notable for treating comic book heroes with the artistic gravitas typically reserved for fine art trading cards. Longshot, the luck-powered antihero with the distinctive star-shaped eye, appears here as card 17 in the set. The character's visually striking design—his asymmetrical appearance and mysterious origins—translates particularly well to the painterly style this set embraces. Collectors appreciate Longshot cards for their appeal to both Marvel enthusiasts and those drawn to the character's unique visual aesthetic within the broader superhero pantheon.
