Neo Genesis marked the return of Pokémon Trading Card Game production to English-language markets after a period away, launching in 2000 with renewed collector enthusiasm. This set introduced the Johto region's creatures alongside Generation II mechanics, capturing the franchise at a pivotal moment when the anime and games were expanding the original 151 Pokémon. The set remains foundational to serious collectors seeking early English releases. Mareep's gentle electric sheep design has resonated with players and collectors for over two decades. This particular card represents a early printing of a beloved Pokémon, appealing both to completionists working through the Neo Genesis set and to fans of the character itself. First Edition copies hold special significance within the collecting community as markers of the era when these cards first entered circulation.
