Neo Genesis marked the beginning of the Pokémon Trading Card Game's Japanese Base Set era in English markets. Released in 2000, this set captured the franchise at peak cultural momentum, introducing players and collectors to expanded mechanics while maintaining the accessibility that made the early era so beloved. First Edition copies remain particularly sought after, representing a specific moment when the hobby was still establishing its foundational collecting categories. Marill, the small Water-type from Generation II, appears here as a stage-one Pokémon with charming artwork that exemplifies the set's illustrative appeal. Collectors pursue this card as part of the complete Neo Genesis experience, valuing both its role in the set's progression and its representation of Pokémon's broader character catalog from that formative collecting period.
