Neo Genesis marked Pokemon's triumphant return to the trading card game in 2000 after a year-long hiatus. This set revitalized collector interest with fresh artwork, new mechanics, and the iconic Lugia and Ho-Oh cards that defined the era. First Edition copies became immediately sought-after, cementing Neo Genesis as a foundational set for serious collectors and establishing the modern standard for Pokemon card collecting. Gloom represents the evolutionary middle ground between Oddish and Vileplume, a stage that appeals to both set completists and Pokemon evolution line enthusiasts. The card captures the Poliwag line's distinctly unsettling character design, and its inclusion in Neo Genesis makes it part of the set's comprehensive Pokedex coverage that collectors value.
