Neo Genesis arrived in 2000 as the Pokémon Company's ambitious expansion of the trading card game beyond Base Set's foundational three years. This set introduced the Japanese Johto region to English collectors, broadening the game's narrative scope and competitive card pool. Neo Genesis became a defining release of the early 2000s collecting era, remembered for its fresh artwork direction and the excitement of discovering an entirely new generation of playable creatures. Croconaw represents the middle evolution of Totodile's line, capturing the water-type's growing ferocity with distinctive artwork. Collectors appreciate this card for its role in the evolutionary chain and its place within Neo Genesis's expanded Pokédex, making it a natural pursuit for set completionists and fans of the Johto generation.
