Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Abbreviated monogram 'K O B' followed by a detached dot/apostrophe at upper right. The K is tall and the O and B are compact. | R1–R6 all show the same 'KOB' monogram with a detached dot at upper right. The K is tall and the O/B cluster has a large looping B. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Slight rightward lean on a gently rising baseline. | Slight rightward lean with a gently rising or level baseline (R1, R3, R5, R6). | Match |
| Letter construction – K | Long stem descending below the baseline, with a looped or angular arm stroke joining into the O. | Long K stem, often descending below the baseline, with an angular arm. Constructed the same way in R2, R4, R5 and R6. | Match |
| Letter construction – O/B | Small O tucked beside a B. The B's upper bowl is small and the lower bowl swings right and back left as a closed loop. | Small O and a B with an enlarged lower loop sweeping right (R2, R3, R5, R6). In R1, R4 and R6 the loop frequently runs into a long horizontal tail. | Natural variation |
| Connecting strokes | K arm flows into the O without a lift. The B appears to be formed in a continuous motion. | Same K-to-O linkage and continuous B formation in the clearer references (R2, R5, R6). | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Tapered entry at the K and a tapered finish at the B loop. No long trailing tail. | Tapered entries. Several references end with a long rightward tail or underline-like extension (R1, R4, R6), while others end shorter (R3, R5). | Natural variation |
| Dot / apostrophe | Short detached tick above and right of the B. | Present in essentially every legible reference in the same position. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Fluent, confident strokes with natural width variation consistent with a felt-tip marker. No visible tremor, hesitation or blunt stops at this resolution. | Fast, fluent strokes in all usable references. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Some width modulation at curves. Detailed pressure cannot be judged from a scan. | Paint pen and marker references show limited pressure variation. | Not assessable |
| Spacing | Letters are tightly grouped, with the dot slightly separated. | Tight grouping with a separated dot. | Match |
| Flourishes and underlines | No extended underline or tail. | The extended tail is optional. It is absent or short in R3 and R5. The limited autograph space on a card plausibly explains the shorter form. | Natural variation |
| Placement and size | Placed within the card's designated autograph area on an on-card Topps product. Sized appropriately for the space. | References are 8x10 photos with larger, freer placement. The size difference is surface-driven. | Natural variation |
| Reproduction indicators | No halftone or dot pattern or uniform printed ink is evident at this resolution. Ink density varies naturally along the strokes. | N/A | Not assessable |
Examiner notes
Ours is on a 2021 Topps Star Wars Masterwork on-card autograph (MWA-KO, Blue /99), so it was likely signed around 2020–2021. Most references appear later. R2 and R6 carry 'Jentorra' inscriptions (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, 2023). R1 and R7 reference Love Lies Bleeding (2024). R8 references Z Nation (2014–2019), so it could be earlier. The gap of roughly 2–3 years is small. Her abbreviated 'KOB' monogram with a dot above looks stable across that span, so era is not expected to explain any major differences.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
