Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Small arrow or '4'-like lead-in at left, a tall J/U-shaped capital loop, small 'ODIE' set inside and angled upward, 'WA' below with a large oval closing loop on the right, and diagonal underline strokes beneath. | Every reference (R1 to R8) shows the same architecture: left '4'/arrow lead-in, tall J/U hook, small rising 'ODIE', 'WA' plus a large right-hand oval, and diagonal underline(s). Proportions are closest to R4, R7 and R8. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | 'ODIE' rises steeply up and to the right. 'WA' runs on a lower descending diagonal. Underlines slope up to the right. | Same rising 'ODIE' and diagonal 'WA' in all references. The angle varies a little: steeper in R3 and R7, flatter in R5. | Match |
| Letter construction | Capital is a single long downstroke curving into a U/J bowl. 'ODIE' is printed small, with an E made of separate bars. 'WA' is angular and followed by a small '4'/Y-like form. The right oval is closed with a small hook or '6' at top. | Same constructions. The small hook at the top right of the oval (a '6'/'S'-like form) appears in R1, R2, R4, R5 and R7. The angular 'WA' with a trailing '4'/Y form appears in R1, R2, R3 and R8. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | The name is mostly disconnected and printed. The main joins are the capital bowl and the right oval, which enclose the lettering. | Same enclosing-loop scheme with printed, disconnected inner letters throughout. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Starts with a small angular arrow/'4' at left. Ends with tapered diagonal underline strokes at lower left. | Arrow/'4' start is present in all references. Underline endings are tapered in R1, R3, R4 and R5, with a doubled underline in R1, R3 and R7. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Large loops look fluid with smooth curvature. Underlines appear tapered. No visible tremor or patching at this resolution. | Fluid, quickly executed loops; small printed letters are slightly slower, as in ours. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Heavier on the main downstroke and loops, lighter on the small lettering and underline tails. Some density variation is visible. | Similar pattern across references. R3 and R5 show a heavier marker line, likely a different pen or more pressure. | Natural variation |
| Spacing | Compact. 'ODIE' and 'WA' are tightly nested inside the loops. | R6, R7 and R8 are similarly compact. R1 and R3 are more open and spread. | Natural variation |
| Flourishes and underlines | One to two diagonal underline strokes beneath the name. | R1, R3 and R7 show two parallel underlines. R2, R4, R5 and R6 show one or two. R8's underline is faint or partial. | Natural variation |
| Placement and size | Lower right of the card, over the male figure's fur/tail and lightning area, about a third of the card's width. | All references sit in the same fur and lightning region of the same artwork at comparable scale. | Match |
| Reproduction indicators (halftone, ink under gloss, uniform density) | No visible dot pattern in the signature strokes. Ink appears to sit over the printed artwork, with stroke-density variation. Image resolution is too low to rule out printing with certainty. | References show the same per-card variation in letterforms and underline count, which argues against a stamped or printed facsimile across the run. | Not assessable |
Examiner notes
All eight references and our card appear to come from the same 2026 YodieWay art-card program: the same artwork, the same signing area and Crown serials 000050496 to 000065297. Ours is serial 000050495, directly adjacent to R8 (000050496) and R7 (000050497), which points to the same signing batch. No career-era drift is expected or seen, so differences are best read as session-to-session variation in signing speed and pen.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
