Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Compact 'Erica' at left, then a large dominant oval loop for the surname initial, then a short abbreviated surname and a rightward terminal. The oval is about as tall as the whole name block. | R1-R8 all show the same structure: a small 'Erica' followed by an oversized oval loop that dominates the signature, with the surname reduced to a few strokes and a tail. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Slight rightward slant. Baseline roughly horizontal with a mild upward drift toward the loop. | R1, R3, R5 and R6 are roughly horizontal with a mild rise. R7 is steeply angled, which fits the card being turned while signing. | Natural variation |
| Letter construction ('E' and 'rica') | Initial 'E' built with stacked horizontal arms starting at far left. 'rica' is small and compressed, with a dotted 'i' visible. | The stacked-arm 'E' and compressed 'rica' with a dot appear in R2, R4, R5, R6 and R8. R1 and R3 show the same 'E' entry. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | 'Erica' runs mostly connected into the oval. The oval is a continuous sweep returning through the name area. | Same continuous sweep from name into oval in R1, R2, R4 and R5. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Start at far left on the 'E'. Ending is a rightward stroke out of the loop region. The exact tail length is hard to read against the busy art. | Long rightward exit tail in R1, R2, R4 and R5. It is shorter in R6 and R8. | Natural variation |
| Line quality and speed | Strokes look smooth and rounded at this resolution, with no obvious tremor. The white paint marker and the busy background limit assessment. | Fluid, fast strokes in all references. | Not assessable |
| Pen pressure pattern | Paint marker gives near-uniform width, which is normal for this pen type. No pressure taper is readable. | Paint pens in R1-R3 are also uniform. Sharpie in R5-R8 shows mild variation. | Not assessable |
| Spacing | Name block is tight and the oval overlaps the right part of the name. | The same overlap of oval and name block is seen in R2, R4 and R5. | Match |
| Flourishes and inscriptions | Blue 'Luffy' inscription above the signature and blue hearts around it, in a second pen. | R5 has a character inscription ('Luffy'). R4 has an inscription and hearts. R6/R8 have hearts. Inscriptions and hearts are a known habit at her signings. | Match |
| Placement and size | Centred over the art and the text box, large, in light ink on dark artwork. | Large central placement over art or text on cards (R4, R6, R7, R8). | Match |
Examiner notes
Ours is on a 2025 One Piece OP11 Treasure Rare, so it was signed in 2025 or later, likely at a convention. The references look like 2022-2025 convention-era signings: GalaxyCon Funkos (R1-R3), One Piece promos (R6/R8), a Pokémon card (R7), and fan items (R4, R5). All show the same compact modern 'Erica' plus large-oval form, so no era shift is expected. Differences in ink colour and width come from the pens used: white paint marker on ours, blue/pink/red paint pen on the Funkos, Sharpie on the cards.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
