Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Heart, then a wide humped 'Monica' on the top line, with 'Rial' offset lower right and a '-Bulma' character inscription trailing on the same line. | R1 and R4 show the same layout: heart, 'Monica', and 'Rial -Bulma' stacked. R2, R3, R5, R6, R7 and R8 show the same heart/Monica/Rial stacking without the inscription. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Mild right slant. 'Monica' rises slightly toward the 'ca' terminal. 'Rial' sits on a lower baseline, offset right. | Same mild right slant and stepped second line in R1, R3, R4, R6 and R7. | Match |
| Letter construction | 'M' is built as a series of rounded humps like a cursive m, with no tall pointed peaks. The 'o' is small and open, reading almost like an 'e'. The 'ca' ends in a rightward loop. The 'R' of Rial is compressed and reads somewhat K-like. 'ial' is simple and connected. | The humped m-style M appears in R1, R3, R4, R6 and R8. R2, R5 and R7 show a taller looped M variant. The open, e-like 'o' is seen in R1 and R4. 'R' forms vary from a looped bowl (R6, R7) to a compressed bowl (R1, R4). | Natural variation |
| Connecting strokes | 'Monica' is written as one continuous cursive unit. 'Rial' is connected. There is a separate dash before 'Bulma'. | R1 and R4 show continuous 'Monica' and the dash plus 'Bulma' construction. The other references show the same continuity. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | The heart is drawn as a separate lead-in. The 'a' of Monica ends with a lift-out terminal. The 'a' of Bulma ends with a short tail. | A separate heart appears in R1, R3, R4, R6 and R8. In R2 and R7 the heart is merged into the M lead-in. Terminals are similar in R1 and R4. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Strokes look fluid with tapered ends. No visible tremor or hesitation at scan resolution, and curves are smooth. | R1 and R4–R7 show similar fluent, quick marker strokes. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Slight width and density variation along strokes, consistent with a fine-to-medium marker on a coated card. | Paint markers on plastic (R2, R3, R6, R7) give more uniform width. R1 on card shows similar modest variation. | Natural variation |
| Spacing | Moderate letter spacing in 'Monica'. 'Rial' and '-Bulma' are slightly cramped near the right card edge. | Spacing is comparable to R1 and R4, which also compress the inscription. | Match |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline. The heart is the only flourish, plus the character inscription. | No underlines in any reference. The heart is consistent throughout. The inscription appears in R1 and R4. | Match |
| Placement and size | Across the lower art and text box, above the name bar, at large size relative to the card. | R1 shows a similar large lower-field placement on a Fusion World card. Funko placements vary with the window. | Match |
Examiner notes
Ours is on a Fusion World FB04 (Ultra Limit) card, released late 2024, so it was signed late 2024 or later, likely at a convention or private signing. R1 is a Crown-reviewed Fusion World on-card auto from roughly the same 2024–2025 period and is the closest era and surface match. R2–R7 are Funko Pop box signatures in paint markers on window plastic or cardboard, likely from about 2018–2023 (Tsuyu #374, Bulma #707, Tsubaki #779, Mirajane #1050). R8 is a marker on a photo, era undetermined. The signature form has stayed stable across this span: a heart lead-in, a humped cursive 'Monica' and 'Rial' stacked below. Differences in stroke width and smoothness between plastic and card surfaces are expected.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
