Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Heart, then 'Monica', then 'Rial' on roughly the same line to the right. A '-Bulma' inscription sits below 'Rial'. The layout is elongated and horizontal. | Heart, then 'Monica' on the upper line, with 'Rial' usually dropped below and to the right (R2–R8). R4 adds '-BULMA' below 'Rial'. | Natural variation |
| Slant and baseline | Mild right slant. The baseline is fairly level, with 'Rial' riding slightly higher than the end of 'Monica'. | Mild right slant. 'Monica' rises slightly left to right and 'Rial' is stepped down. | Natural variation |
| Letter construction | The M opens with a 'u'-like double hump lead-in. 'oni' is compact. 'Rial' has a tall looped R and a tall l. The 'ca' section is faint and poorly legible against the light shirt area. | The same 'u'-style M entry appears in R4, R5 and R8, with a compact 'oni'. The 'a' usually ends in a large sweeping loop up and over. The R is open with a tall l. | Natural variation |
| Connecting strokes | 'Moni' is connected cursively. The 'ca' terminal appears to run horizontally toward 'Rial', which is hard to resolve. | 'Monica' is fully connected and the terminal 'a' loop sweeps right and up. 'Rial' is a separate unit. | Not assessable |
| Starting and ending strokes | The heart is drawn in one motion with a pointed bottom. The end stroke of 'Rial' is a tall l with a short exit. The '-Bulma' starts with a dash. | A one-motion heart precedes the name in every reference. 'Rial' ends in a tall l. R4 uses a dash before 'BULMA'. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | At this resolution the strokes look fluid with no obvious tremor or blunt stops. Gold metallic ink on a foil/holo surface gives uneven density. | Fast, fluid paint-pen and Sharpie strokes on acetate and photo surfaces. | Natural variation |
| Pen pressure pattern | Metallic paint pen with fairly even width. It thins and fades in the 'ca' region, possibly from ink skipping on the foil. | Paint pens of even width on Funko windows. The Sharpie on R5 shows mild variation. | Not assessable |
| Spacing | Compact letters within words. A small gap or connector between 'Monica' and 'Rial'. | Compact letters within words. 'Rial' is offset diagonally rather than inline. | Natural variation |
| Flourishes and inscriptions | Leading heart and '-Bulma' character inscription. The large looping 'a' flourish is not clearly visible. | Leading heart in all references. The '-BULMA' inscription appears in R4. The large 'a' loop is prominent in R6 and R8. | Natural variation |
| Placement and size | Placed across the art just above the text box, sized to the card width. This is typical of a hand-signed card and not a fixed facsimile position. | Large signatures across Funko box windows and the photo. They are not directly comparable to a card. | Natural variation |
Examiner notes
The card is a 2024 Dragon Ball Super Fusion World Blazing Aura release, so our signature cannot predate 2024. The references are Funko Pops released roughly 2018–2022 (DBZ Bulma #385/#707, Tsuyu #374, Tsubaki #779, Mirajane #1050) plus an 11x14 photo. They were likely signed at conventions in about 2019–2024. All of them show the same mature signature form (heart, 'Monica' with a 'u'-style M entry, 'Rial' set to the right), so they are broadly contemporary with ours and no era-driven change is expected.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
