Comic Images' 1991 Incredible Hulk set arrived during the early boom of non-sports card collecting, when Marvel properties were gaining serious collector attention. The set captured the character across different eras and storylines, appealing to both comic readers and trading card enthusiasts exploring alternatives to mainstream sports offerings. This period marked an important transitional moment when superhero cards began commanding genuine collecting interest. Dark Hulk represents one of the set's most striking visual interpretations, depicting the character in a more menacing, shadowy form that contrasts with his standard green appearance. The dramatic artwork and the card's darker aesthetic make it a standout among standard Hulk representations, drawing collectors who appreciate the character's more complex and brooding iterations.
