Comic Images' 1991 Incredible Hulk set represents a pivotal moment when trading cards expanded beyond sports into entertainment properties. Released during the early boom of non-sports card collecting, the set captured Marvel's jade giant through striking artwork that appealed to both comic fans and card enthusiasts. Sets like this established Comic Images as a key player in bringing superhero properties to the trading card format. "Shocked" exemplifies the character study approach of the series, focusing on Bruce Banner's emotional response to his transformation rather than action scenes. Collectors appreciate these character-driven cards for their ability to capture the psychological depth of the Hulk mythos—the tension between man and monster that defines the character.
