Comic Images' 1991 Hulk set captured the character's popularity during a golden era for Marvel trading cards. Released as the comic book market boomed, this series offered collectors vibrant artwork and memorable scenes from the character's mythology. The early nineties saw increased competition in the trading card industry, and sets like this one reflected collector enthusiasm for licensed superhero content beyond sports cards. Card 82, "Barkeep," features a moment from Bruce Banner's everyday life, grounding the Hulk mythology in human drama. The card illustrates the tension between Banner's civilian identity and his gamma-powered alter ego, a theme central to the character's appeal. Collectors appreciate cards that capture these quieter character moments alongside the action-packed alternatives in the set.
