Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Large looped cursive 'E', then compressed small 'rica' letters, then a large oval loop arching back over the first name, ending in a descending stroke and a rightward tail. The whole signature is roughly 2.5–3x wider than tall. | Same architecture in R1–R8: large E, compressed middle letters, dominant oval loop, descender and long horizontal tail. R6 (One Piece card, PSA/DNA slab) is nearly identical in proportion. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Mild right slant. The baseline rises slightly from the E to the loop, then drops into the descender. | R3, R5, R6 and R8 show the same mild right slant and the same rise into the loop. | Match |
| Letter construction | The 'E' is built as two stacked counter-clockwise loops with an entry hook at upper left. The 'rica' letters collapse into small humps with an i-dot. | R1, R2, R5 and R6 show the same two-loop E and collapsed humps. The i-dot is visible in R3 and R5. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | The middle letters flow continuously into the upstroke of the big oval with no visible lift. | Continuous connection into the oval is seen in R3, R5 and R6. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Starts with a small hook at the top of the E. Ends with a tapered horizontal tail to the right after the descender. | R3, R4 and R5 show the same hooked start and a tapered right tail of varying length. Tail length varies by available space. | Natural variation |
| Line quality and speed | Smooth, confident curves with tapered terminals. No visible tremor or hesitation at this resolution. | All references show fast fluent execution. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Broad black marker. Line width is fairly even, with slight thinning on the oval upstroke and the tail. | Marker references (R2, R5, R6) show similar even width. Pressure cannot be assessed precisely in photos. | Not assessable |
| Spacing | The first name is tightly compressed under the oval. The oval spans roughly the right two-thirds of the signature. | R5, R6 and R8 show the same compression and oval coverage. | Match |
| Flourishes and embellishments | The oval loop is the main flourish. There is also a separate blue 'LUFFY' inscription and blue hearts drawn around the signature area. | R4 (blue hearts) and R6 (red hearts plus inscription) show that she habitually adds hearts and character-name inscriptions. R1 and R2 add the 'DMG' inscription. | Match |
| Placement and size | Placed across the lower art and over the character-name bar. Large and natural for an in-person card signing. | R6 is placed similarly across the lower text/art of a One Piece card. | Match |
Examiner notes
Ours is on a 2024 One Piece Pirates Party Vol. 5 promo (P-041), so it was likely signed at a 2024–2025 convention. The references appear to be from roughly the same period, 2022–2025: GalaxyCon Funko Pops, a 2022–23 One Piece promo, a Sylveon Pop and a figure base. They all show the same fast convention-style form, so no meaningful era drift is expected. The differences seen are explained by surface (glossy card vs. Funko window vs. matte base), marker colour and size, and signing speed.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
