Released in 2001, Pokemon 4Ever arrived during the height of Pokemon's global popularity, when the franchise had leapt from handheld games and trading cards onto the big screen. Part of a run of animated features that brought the series' world to theaters, it reflects an era when hand-drawn Japanese animation was reaching a wide international audience.
