Printed or copied?
Our signature is not a duplicate overlay of any reference. Loop sizes, the starting mark, the arrowhead details and the underline all differ from each reference in the natural way a hand-signed run varies. This argues against a stamp or printed facsimile. No halftone or dot pattern is visible in the ink at this resolution. Whether the ink sits on top of the card's gloss cannot be confirmed from the photo. The ink density looks marker-typical, not perfectly uniform.

Signature comparison

This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).

Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.

FeatureThis cardKnown examplesResult
Overall form and proportionsLarge open 'U/C'-shaped left loop forming the Y, small capitals 'ODIE' running diagonally up-right inside the top, 'WA' plus a triangular Y below, and a large oval closing loop on the right. Slightly taller relative to width.R1–R8 all share this layout: big left bowl, diagonal 'ODIE', 'WA' plus a 4- or triangle-like Y, and a large right oval. Height-to-width varies across the set.Match
Slant and baselineUprights near vertical (0.5°). 'ODIE' rises on a roughly 30–40° diagonal and 'WA' descends diagonally.Uprights from vertical to slightly back-slanted (-10.2° to -0.7°). Same rising 'ODIE' and descending 'WA' baselines in R1–R8.Natural variation
Letter construction'ODIE' in separate small block capitals. The E is open-backed. 'W' is printed and 'A' is followed by a triangular/arrow-like Y. There is an X-like starting mark at far left and a small arrowhead inside the left bowl and at the top inside the right loop.'ODIE' in small separated caps (R1 'JUDIE', R2 'aODIE'-like start). The Y after 'WA' is rendered as a 4 or triangle (R1, R2, R4). R1, R6 and R7 have a 4/x/A-like left starting mark. R1 and R2 show a small hook or curl at the top of the right loop where ours shows an arrow-like hook.Natural variation
Connecting strokesPrinted style with letters largely unconnected. The big loops are drawn as separate sweeping strokes.Same printed, unconnected construction throughout.Match
Starting and ending strokesStarts at far left with a crossed or X-like mark. The right oval closes with an inward hook near its top.Left starting mark appears as a 4, x or A (R1, R4, R6, R7). Right loop terminal has a hook or curl (R1, R2, R5).Natural variation
Line quality and speedFluid, confident sweeps on the big loops with smooth curvature. No visible tremor, patching or hesitation at this resolution.Same rapid, fluent marker strokes.Match
Pen pressure patternMostly even marker line with some thickening on the loops. Stroke thickness variation is measured higher than the references.Even marker line with modest thickness variation. Not assessable
Spacing'ODIE' letters evenly spaced inside the top of the bowl. 'WA' sits between the bowls, slightly lower.Comparable internal spacing, varying by card.Match
Flourishes and underlinesLong diagonal slash underline from lower left toward the right loop, plus a second, thinner parallel diagonal line. The extra arrowheads are distinctive.Diagonal slash underline in every reference. R6 shows a doubled slash. R1, R2 and R4 show small hooks, curls or triangles that resemble ours.Natural variation
Placement and sizeLower right of the card on the blue pants/lightning area below the fur, spanning about half the card width.Same region in R1–R8, with similar scale and small positional shifts between cards.Match

Measurements

Software traced the ink and measured it against the known examples. The shaded band is the signer's normal range across those examples; the gold marker is this card.

The computer measurements compare this signature with three clean reference signatures. Two shape features fall inside YodieWay's normal range: how upright the strokes are, and how tall the signature is compared with its width. That supports a match. Three features sit well outside his usual range: how much ink line there is for the signature's width, how many closed loops were counted, and how much the line thickness changes. These three are sensitive to photo quality and resolution. This signature also includes extra small arrow-like accents and a faint second diagonal line that would push those counts up. On balance the numbers do not contradict the visual match, but they are a reason for an in-hand check rather than proof either way.

Examiner notes

Our slab (serial 000060274, 2026 'WhatNot Streamer YodieWay - Auto', YW grade) sits inside the serial range of the references (000050495 to 000065297). All references are the same art card, signed in the same spot and the same marker style, so ours and every reference look like one signing era (2026 streamer-card runs). Era drift is not a factor. Differences are best explained by within-session variation, signing speed and photo or scan conditions.

  • Ink travel per unit width is far above the references (8.6 spreads). Closed loops (4.4 spreads) and stroke thickness variation (3.3 spreads) are also out of range. All three are photo-sensitive, and the extra arrowhead details plus a thin second diagonal line in our crop likely inflate them, but they need a physical look.
  • The thin second diagonal line crossing toward the right loop is fainter and finer than the main marker strokes. Confirm whether it is ink, a scratch, or a scan or slab artifact.
  • Only three of eight references (R1, R2, R4) gave clean measurable traces.
  • Reference provenance is Crown-reviewed authentication rather than a documented witnessed signing.

How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
