Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Compressed 'M'-plus-'k/h' zigzag group, then a tall 'P' stem and a crossed terminal. Roughly two-thirds of the width goes to the first-name group. | R1–R5 and R8 show the same two-group structure, zigzag M group then P plus crossed t. R7 is more compressed but has the same elements. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Strong right slant, about 45–60°. The baseline rises slightly left to right relative to the vertical card orientation. | R1–R5 show a similar strong right slant with a slight upward drift. R7 and R8, signed vertically, show the same slant relative to the stroke direction. | Match |
| Letter construction | 'M' built as a rapid zigzag with an angular entry hook. The second element is a looped 'h/k'-like stroke. 'P' has a tall stem with a quick bowl. The ending is a horizontal crossing stroke. | Identical construction in R1, R2, R4 and R5: zigzag M, h/k loop, P with open bowl, long horizontal t-cross. R3 and R8 match in a thinner pen. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | The M group is connected in one motion. There is a pen lift before the 'P'. The t-cross is a separate stroke. | References show the same lift between the first-name group and the 'P', and the t-cross as a separate horizontal stroke. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Tapered entry on the 'M' lead-in. The terminal cross stroke tapers out to the right. | R1, R2 and R4 show a tapered lead-in and an extended tapering terminal cross. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Mostly fluent with tapered ends and no visible tremor in the 'M' group. The mid-to-right section shows a mottled, broken, flaky ink area. | References show fast, confident strokes with no tremor. | Natural variation |
| Pen pressure pattern | Heavier on downstrokes of the M and P. The flaky area obscures the pressure reading there. | Paint-pen references show uniform width. Fine-tip references (R3, R7, R8) show heavier downstrokes. | Natural variation |
| Spacing | A tight first-name group with a modest gap before the 'P'. | Comparable spacing in R2, R5 and R8. | Match |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline. The extended terminal cross acts as the only flourish. | No underline in any reference. The extended t-cross is the habitual flourish. | Match |
| Placement and size | Blue marker, vertical along the right side of the sticker art, about half the card height. | R7 and R8, Crown-certified artist stickers, are signed vertically along the side in blue marker. Very similar placement and size. | Match |
| Reproduction indicators | Ink sits visibly on top of the artwork with uneven density and beading. There is no halftone pattern, and the signature is not integrated into the printed design. | n/a | Not assessable |
Examiner notes
Our item is a 2022 Magic Marker Art Slop Culture Kids sticker, the artist's own self-published product, so the signature likely dates from 2022 or later. R7 and R8 (Nintendopes stickers, Crown-certified) appear to be from the same early-2020s self-published sticker period and are the closest era and surface match. R1, R2, R4 and R5 are paint-pen signatures on Funko Pop boxes, likely late 2010s to 2020s. R3 is on a 2015 GPK card. R6 is undated. Across all eight references the core form, an angular zigzag 'M' and a tall 'P' followed by a crossed 't' terminal, is stable. Differences in width and fluidity track pen type and surface more than era.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
