Released by Paramount Pictures in May 1986, Top Gun became one of the defining blockbusters of the decade, directed by Tony Scott and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer. Shot extensively aboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65), the film's authentic carrier footage gave it a visceral realism that cemented its cultural legacy and drove a documented surge in U.S. Navy recruitment.

These three consecutive frames capture flight deck personnel wearing the distinctive yellow jerseys of aircraft handling officers or plane directors, positioned alongside what appears to be an F-14 Tomcat on the carrier flight line.
