Released by Paramount Pictures in May 1986, Top Gun became one of the defining blockbusters of the decade, directed by Tony Scott and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer. The film launched Tom Cruise to superstardom and remains a landmark of 1980s action cinema, celebrated for its aerial photography, synth-driven score, and cultural staying power that earned a sequel thirty-six years later.
