Titanic was produced by Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox and released in December 1997. Directed by James Cameron, the film became the highest-grossing motion picture of its time and won eleven Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It represented a turning point in large-scale Hollywood production, combining practical filmmaking with emerging digital effects to tell the story of the 1912 maritime disaster.
