Titanic was produced by Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox and released in December 1997. Directed by James Cameron, the film became a defining cultural moment of its era, breaking box office records worldwide and earning eleven Academy Awards including Best Picture. Its ambition — a period epic built around a doomed ocean liner and an intimate love story — made it one of the most discussed films of the decade.
