FILM NOTES

Titanic was produced by Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox and released in December 1997. Directed by James Cameron, the film became the highest-grossing motion picture of its time and won eleven Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It marked a turning point in large-scale studio filmmaking, blending practical effects, digital innovation, and period drama on an unprecedented budget. Its cultural reach extended well beyond cinema, and its principal performances became defining moments of the decade.

This cell, titled Jack and Rose, captures a close two-shot of Rose DeWitt Bukater and Jack Dawson in a quiet romantic moment aboard the Titanic. Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio appear across three consecutive frames from the same shot, Rose looking upward and Jack leaning in from above. The third frame carries a small circular lens flare or reel burn, a natural artifact of the original 35mm print.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
