FILM NOTES

Titanic was produced by Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox and released in December 1997 under the direction of James Cameron. The film became a defining cultural event of its era, breaking box office records worldwide and winning eleven Academy Awards including Best Picture. Its production scale, practical effects, and period recreation set a benchmark for large-format filmmaking in the late twentieth century.

This cell, titled Trapped Passengers, captures three consecutive frames from a single continuous shot depicting a crowd of figures in period steerage costume pressed against a metal lattice gate in the lower decks of the ship. The sideways orientation on the strip reflects standard 35mm horizontal camera movement, and the repeating composition across all three frames preserves the full temporal weight of this tense, wordless moment.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
