FILM NOTES

Titanic was produced by Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox and released in December 1997. Directed by James Cameron, the film became a defining cultural event of its decade, earning eleven Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. Its combination of large-scale historical reconstruction and intimate romantic storytelling drew record audiences worldwide, and its 35mm prints remain among the most recognizable photographic artifacts of late twentieth century cinema.

This cell, titled Jack Sketching Rose, captures the quiet, private moment in which Jack Dawson draws Rose DeWitt Bukater's portrait. Across its frames, a hand moves a pencil across paper, the emerging likeness of Rose's face gradually taking shape. Leonardo DiCaprio's performance in this scene carries a particular stillness, and the cell preserves that intimacy in a tangible, frame-by-frame form.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
