Titanic was produced by Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox and released in December 1997. Directed by James Cameron, the film became the highest-grossing motion picture of its time and won eleven Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It represented a landmark in practical and digital filmmaking, blending large-scale physical production with emerging visual effects technology to recreate the 1912 disaster with unprecedented scope.
