Titanic was produced by Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox and released in December 1997. Directed by James Cameron, the film became a defining cultural event of its era, breaking box office records worldwide and earning eleven Academy Awards including Best Picture. Its ambition — practical sets, period detail, and an intimate story set against historical catastrophe — made it a landmark of late-twentieth-century filmmaking.
