FILM NOTES

Titanic was produced by Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox and released in December 1997. Directed by James Cameron, the film became a defining cultural and commercial event of its era, ultimately winning eleven Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. Shot on a massive purpose-built set in Baja California, its production scale was unprecedented for the time, and its blend of historical tragedy with fictional romance made it one of the most widely seen films in cinema history.

This cell, titled Titanic Evacuation, captures a wide overhead interior shot of passengers crowded within one of the ship's grand public spaces, rendered in the film's characteristic cool blue lighting. The central oval fixture anchors the composition, and the image appears rotated on the strip as it was originally captured. Three consecutive frames preserve the same continuous moment, offering a rare sustained look at one of the production's most elaborately staged crowd sequences.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
