Titanic was produced by Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox and released in December 1997. Directed by James Cameron, the film became the highest-grossing motion picture of its time and won eleven Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It represented a turning point in large-scale studio filmmaking, combining practical production with emerging digital effects to tell a story rooted in one of history's most documented maritime disasters.
