FILM NOTES

Universal Pictures released E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in June 1982, directed by Steven Spielberg. The film became the highest-grossing release of its time and remains a defining work of the New Hollywood era, blending science fiction with intimate family drama. John Williams composed the score, and the production drew on practical effects and naturalistic child performances to ground its fantastical premise in emotional authenticity.

This cell carries the confirmed title Elliott and presents Henry Thomas in a continuous three-frame sequence from what appears to be the forest or meadow setting. Elliott is wrapped in a red hooded cloak, face tilted upward, with warm golden foliage filling the background — a quiet, luminous moment that captures the film's characteristic balance of wonder and vulnerability.

This original motion picture film element has been examined and authenticated by Crown Grading in partnership with National Film Vault, and encapsulated for archival preservation.
