FILM NOTES

Treasure Planet was released by Walt Disney Pictures in November 2002, directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the duo behind The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. An ambitious reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel set in a steampunk solar frontier, the film represented one of the most technically complex traditionally animated productions of its era, blending hand-drawn characters with extensive CGI environments. Though a commercial disappointment upon release, it has earned considerable appreciation in the years since for its visual ambition and emotional depth.

This cell captures the Treasure Planet Title Card, the film's opening logo sequence rendered in distinctive gold lettering against deep black, with subtle planetary imagery anchoring the composition. A faint ringed planet visible at the frame's edge gives the cell a quietly cosmic quality. As a 35mm element from the theatrical release, it documents the precise visual language Disney chose to introduce this world to audiences — understated, elegant, and immediately evocative of the interstellar adventure to follow.
