Treasure Planet arrived in November 2002 from Walt Disney Pictures, a bold reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel transplanted into a retrofuturistic space setting. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the film represented one of the final major traditionally animated features from the studio before the full transition to digital production, making surviving 35mm elements from the release particularly significant to animation historians and collectors.
