Treasure Planet arrived in November 2002 from Walt Disney Feature Animation, representing the studio's ambitious reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel transplanted into a retrofuturist space-sailing universe. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the film blended traditional hand-drawn character animation with extensive CGI environments, making it a technically distinctive entry in the Disney canon during a transitional period for the art form.
This 35mm cell captures Jim Hawkins in a tense, kinetic moment aboard the RLS Legacy, crouched low over a patterned mechanical surface with robotic elements visible in the darkened interior below him.
