Treasure Planet arrived in November 2002 from Walt Disney Feature Animation, a bold reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel transposed to a seafaring science-fiction universe. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the film represented one of the studio's most ambitious productions of the era, blending traditional hand-drawn animation with extensive CGI to realize its hybrid world of tall ships and solar winds. Though modestly received at the time, it has earned a devoted following for its visual invention and emotional sincerity.
