Treasure Planet arrived in November 2002 from Walt Disney Feature Animation, a bold reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel transposed into a swashbuckling science-fiction setting. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the film represented one of the studio's most ambitious technical undertakings, blending traditional hand-drawn animation with extensive CGI environments. Though it underperformed commercially, it has since earned a devoted following for its visual invention and emotional sincerity.

This cell captures the RLS Legacy in open voyage, the great solar galleon set against a luminous blue nebula with rocky formations framing the scene. One frame appears inverted on the strip, a natural artifact of the printing process. The establishing shot conveys the film's signature sense of cosmic scale and nautical grandeur.
