Treasure Planet arrived in November 2002 from Walt Disney Feature Animation, representing one of the studio's most ambitious late-era traditionally animated productions. A bold reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel transplanted into a retro-futurist space setting, the film blended hand-drawn character animation with extensive CGI environments. Though it struggled commercially upon release, it has since earned genuine appreciation among animation enthusiasts for its visual ambition, fluid character work, and the emotional depth of its central coming-of-age story.
